Member Stories
Member and community interviews, cut into short story videos and a fundraising film, so the people the Y serves could make the case in their own words.
In Their Own Words
A YMCA is easy to drive past and hard to explain. The Foothills Area YMCA in Seneca wanted people to understand what it means to the families who walk through its doors, so we asked them.
Over July 2021 we sat down with members and community leaders in two rounds of interviews. Their answers became a set of short story videos and a longer film for the Y's fundraising.
The People in the Film
The film follows members through the Y's programs. Jody Cross talks about Livestrong at the YMCA and John Broadwell about the Rock Steady Boxing program. Krystal Peppers and Landon Brinkley, and members Bryan Hoover and Terry Ryerson, each tell their own part of the story. Vice President John Derwent opens and closes it.
Between the interviews, the camera shows the Y at work: the new Cottingham Campus from above, the strength floor and fitness classes, Rock Steady Boxing, and the kids in its youth programs.
